Day 1

Join the excited bunch for a day of travel seeing all types of color as we forge eastward toward Mystic Connecticut. Enjoy the games and info provided in your booklet of this trip. Dinner is on your own. Overnight near Mystic Seaport.

Day 2
September 28, 2020

Breakfast included. Enjoy the morning at the famous Mystic Seaport. After lunch, enjoy some easy listening music, and while away the afternoon with lively conversation or relaxation as your whiz along the highway to Massachusetts, the “Bay State,” and beautiful Cape Cod, MA. The sandy shores of Cape Cod welcome you. Extending 70 miles into the sea, the Cape is home to both natural beauty and quaint colonial villages. You can walk the pristine beaches, revel in the arts and culture, and reclaim childhood memories of seashells, sandcastles, and salt water taffy. The AIDEN at Cape Point (mid-Cape) is your hotel for a 4 night stay. Dinner included.

Day 3
September 29, 2020

Extended Continental Breakfast included at your hotel. With your Local Guide, travel historic ROUTE 6A, the Old King’s Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod history. Pass hundreds of historic structures which characterize its early development. View the Eastham Windmill and a Cape Cod Lighthouse. Hear the Pilgrim’s stories of Corn Hill, First Encounter Beach, Pilgrim Spring and Pond and their First Landing site. Stop at the CAPE COD NATIONAL SEASHORE VISITOR’S CENTER. Sand dunes and the ocean surround you when approaching “Land’s End” – PROVINCETOWN. You are now at the extreme tip of Cape Cod. The Pilgrims landed here first before settling across the Bay in Plymouth. The story started here in 1620 while the Pilgrims spent their first five weeks exploring Cape Cod. It was here that they signed the Mayflower Compact…the catalyst for American democracy.Lunch is on your own today. Take time to view the Bas Relief Monument and Park commemorating the first landing and the signing of the Mayflower Compact. Ride through the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore on a DUNE RIDE. See the “dune shacks” where famous artists and writers became inspired to create their art. Back in the Mid-Cape enjoy a tour of HYANNIS including the John F. Kennedy Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, Hyannisport and a view of St. Francis Xavier Church, the summer parish of the Kennedy Family. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 4
September 30, 2020

ISLAND CHOICE DAY: Arrive at the HY-LINE DOCKS for boarding the 9:00 am ferry to the island of MARTHA’S VINEYARD. Upon arrival at 10:00 am, board a local bus for a SIGHTSEEING TOUR. Learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as you pass through Vineyard Haven. Take time for lunch and shopping in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete your day on the island in Oak Bluffs. You may choose to stroll through “Cottage City” with its brightly painted cottages and decorative “gingerbread” trim. Depart the island at 3:35 pm.

OR YOU MAY CHOOSE TO GO TO NANTUCKET ISLAND:

Take the HY-LINE high-speed ferry to the stunning island of NANTUCKET. Upon arrival, locate the restaurants, galleries, shops, and museums that are within walking distance of the dock. Admission is included on a NANTUCKET ISLAND TOUR. Lunch and shopping are on your own. Please remember to wear comfortable walking shoes for the cobblestone streets and brick sidewalks that line Nantucket’s downtown area. LOBSTER DINNER is included this evening. Alternate entrées will be available for any “landlubbers” not wishing to eat shellfish.

Day 5
October 1, 2020

EXTENDED CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST is included. Travel to America’s Hometown –PLYMOUTH, MA Home of our Pilgrim Fathers and one of the country’s first settlements. A picture stop will be made at the Forefather’s Monument, the largest, solid granite monument in the United States. She stands facing the harbor, welcoming those who come by water. A photo stop will be made at PLYMOUTH ROCK, the traditional site of disembarkation of the Pilgrims. Climb aboard the newly restored MAYFLOWER II, a reproduction of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to the New World. Learn about the 1620 voyage, the perils of maritime travel, and the tools of the 17th century navigation. Enjoy free time for shopping and lunch on your own. Board a LOBSTER TALES CRUISE to learn about the many creatures that live in Plymouth Harbor. Experience a “hands on” approach to see how lobsters are harvested from their natural environment. Roll up your sleeves to help haul in lobster traps. Visit PILGRIM HALL MUSEUM. Built in 1824, this gallery museum is the nation’s oldest continuously operating public museum. Pilgrim Hall houses an unmatched collection of Pilgrim possessions. TRADITIONAL TURKEY DINNER with all the fixings is included at the Plantation. During dinner enjoy a “Dress a Pilgrim” demonstration.

Day 6
October 2, 2020

Extended Continental Breakfast included at hotel. Today leave the Cape with sand in your shoes, cranberries in your pockets and many fond memories. Continue to the famous LETCHWORTH STATE PARK area in New York. Dinner is on your own tonight. Overnight in Mt. Morris, NY (B)

Day 7
October 3, 2020

Breakfast is included. Today visit the park’s visitors center, see waterfalls, and lots of beauty. Then we leave the East behind and travel along the highway through stands of colorful hardwood trees to our favorite place on earth, HOME! Thanks for traveling with Custom Holidays. (B)
