First stop today Is at the Mariner’s Church in Detroit.

In a rustic old hall in Detroit they prayed,

In the Maritime Sailors’ Cathedral.

The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times

For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

People around the world know about Mariners’ Church of Detroit from those famous lines in Gordon Lightfoot’s ballad “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.” But you may be surprised to learn that Mariners’ was unique in many respects long before that song was written.

Next, visit the Solanus Casey Center. Inspired by the life and example of our brother, Blessed Solanus Casey, this Center strives to be a place of pilgrimage, healing, reconciliation and peace.

A Detroit Church tour would not be complete without a visit to St. Anne’s! Its soaring neo-Gothic architecture, incredible stained glass windows, impressive side altars and statues, and dazzling starred ceiling make it an important landmark in the City of Detroit.
