Myrtle Beach

Today is a travel day. Depart Southgate and travel to Beckley, WV for a one night hotel stay en route to Myrtle Beach.

After an included breakfast, make the rest of the journey to Myrtle Beach. Our first stop is the Myrtle Beach CVB where we will have a VIP welcome reception for our group. Check into an Oceanfront Executive Suite at the Beach Cove Resort, your home for the next 4 nights. Dinner tonight is included at the resort. (B,D)

Breakfast is included at your hotel. Discover Local Wildlife on our Myrtle Beach Eco Boat Cruise. Explore Murrells Inlet and its beautiful saltwater marsh estuary. Enjoy the sight and sounds as we tour the tranquil waters, bird watching and observing the underwater sea life with a naturalist. While on the cruise, participate in a live demonstration that includes local crabs and pulling a sample dredge from the bottom of the creek bed directly into the touch tank for all to observe. Take a guided tour through an environmentally sensitive and smart building, an innovative prototype of how future construction can evolve with the changing climate. Lunch today is at Broadway, where you will have over 20 different restaurants and dozens of shops to enjoy. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the resort before we end our day with a group dinner at Benjamin's Calabash Seafood Buffet. (B,D)

After an included breakfast, enjoy a visit to Brookgreen Botanical Gardens for a guided tour of the property. See Live Oak Allée, comprised of 250-year-old Live Oak trees, the Butterfly Garden, Palmetto Garden, as well as other gardens which feature thousands of shrubs, perennials, roses, and mature trees. Lunch is on the waterfront today at Barefoot Landing with your choice from 15 different restaurants. The afternoon is free for you to relax back at the resort before a fun Polynesian Fire Luau Dinner on the beach. (B,D)

After an included breakfast at the hotel, we will depart Myrtle Beach for a day trip to Charleston, SC. Our first stop in town will be a tour at Boone Hall Plantation, which was founded in 1681 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1743, the son of Major John Boone planted live oak trees, arranging them in two evenly spaced rows. This spectacular approach to his home symbolizes southern heritage and will take root in your memory for many years to come. It would take two centuries for the massive, mossdraped branches to meet overhead, forming today’s natural oak tree corridor and a scene that NBC Daytime television says is “a must see stop on any trip to Charleston, S.C.” Boone Hall has also been recognized as the #1 Plantation in the Charleston Area by USA TODAY 10BEST. Lunch is included at a local restaurant followed by a horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston. You will have some free time to shop the historic district as well as the Charleston City Market before an included dinner at Real Seafood Company. (B,L,D)

Today is free for you to spend some time relaxing at the resort/beach area and get in some sunshine. In the afternoon, enjoy a wine tasting at Duplin Winery and a sunset dinner cruise on the Barefoot Queen. (B,D)

Depart Myrtle Beach and begin your trip home with a lunch stop in Winston-Salem, NC. Overnight in Beckley, WV. (B,L)

Today we return home with a lunch stop at the Glass Rooster Cannery for a farm-to-table homestyle meal. We will arrive home in the early evening. (B,L)
