Along the way, you’ll hear about how one determined woman transformed the stations into a city-wide art gallery, uncover the origins of Detroit’s own “Times Square,” and learn the unexpected tales that make this elevated train a true Motor City icon.
Your tour is led by urban planner and Detroit enthusiast Michael Boettcher, who has been leading tours since the early 1990s. With decades of experience working in Southeast Michigan communities, he brings both knowledge and humor to the story of the city. When he’s not sharing Detroit’s stories, he collects antique Detroit postcards and is slowly building a scale model of downtown Detroit entirely out of Legos.
